Shipping Pennies

bleh, it’s 1:50am and i need to head over to soda to finish my cs lab. grrrrr. oh well, 1 more episode of Cooking Master Boy before I go. hehe ;p

i was just thinking with ungsunghero, that if i won an auction and the seller accepted pennies, it would be very expensive to ship it. i just immediately assumed that $1 or 100pennies ~ 1lb. but ungsunghero proved me wrong and said 6 pennies = 1 ounce. so if 16 ounces = 1lb, then 96 pennies = 1lb. to ship $41 or 4100 pennies (weighing ~43lbs) would cost $18 for UPS Ground. i was expecting at least $30 to ship it, but wow! only $18. hehe.

was reading a newsletter and i noticed these semi-funny stereotypes:

It’s also fun to observe the impressions Americans make on the Japanese, what stereotypes they come up with when they think of Americans. In Gunma, where we live, most gaijin ride mountain bikes, especially Mormon missionaries, so mountain bikes and foreigners go together in the minds of Japanese. Americans are famous for being optimistic in all things — I once doodled a happy face on a piece of paper and was told “That’s very American” by a Japanese friend. Americans are famous for being bad at math (something I am personally guilty of), and according to my wife, Americans are never on time, although she might be just talking about me.

isn’t it asians that are never on time. i remember someone told me that. could it be… damion? hehe. -_^x

for those that didn’t know. a new ninjai episode has came out. it actually came out a week ago, but i forgot to tell you guys.

Postcard Freebies

guess what today is!?!?!
HAPPY BDAY BRANDO!!!

damion droped by today outta the blue. well, not totally outta the blue, but i wasn’t expecting, well, more like i forgot i should be expecting him. hehe. ben called a bit later and he drove us to safeway for grocery shopping. damion actually requested my help on building his new computer last week, but it just sorta slipped my mind or maybe i was expecting him to IM me. hehe. anyway, his computer is up and running now. stupid WD hds gave us some trouble. who puts MASTER & SINGLE DRIVE on 2 separate jumper settings. stupid Western Digital. =( took like 15mins to figure out the stupid problem. then we went to Mel’s for dinner. good milkshakes they have there, but barney’s oreo milkshake is still the best imho.

well, want freebies? like my george foreman grill? welp, as long as you’re a california resident, you’re capable of receiving the following items for FREE:

  • Austin Powers – Goldmember DVD
  • $100 Gas Vouchers
  • $50 US Saving Bonds
  • Digital Pen Camera
  • George Foreman Grill
  • Cuisinart Mini Food Chopper
  • JWin Personal CD Player
  • Web Camera
  • Touchscreen Digital Organizer
  • Electronic Organizer
  • Credit Report

All you have to do is mail out a postcard which i found out you can obtain for FREE! Liam said that the postcards were free @ Tower Records, but @ Mel’s we found a whole bunch of free postcards there too! carii says IKEA has them too! wow! had no idea free postcards were everywhere, i was even about to pay $.20 for each if i couldn’t find any. index cards worked for awhile, but several got shot back because apparently the size of a postcard must exceed 5.5″. anyway, for more detailed instructions on what to do, check out these 2 threads on FatWallet: thread1 & thread2

oh yeah, for those that don’t know, my guestbook creates a new page every time it hits 20 posts. no, your post did not disappear (unless you’re the guy that clicked submit like 60x) and you can chk the previous posts by clicking the selection menu on the upper right hand corner of the guest book page.

quote of the moment (from Fantasy):

so true, yet life would be so perfect it’d be boring.

It Is Better to Die on Your Feet Than to Live on Your Knees

sorry about last nite. went to sleep @ 9pm because didn’t have much sleep time the nite before. according to cunndogg, my cell phone was going crazy last nite. found out today dad was calling because of a health emergency type of thingy. oh well 9pm to 12pm. wow! 15hrs of sleep. nice huh? hehe.

had my midterm on thursday. went quite well, until i went over answers with liam. sigh… thought i did good too! but stuff just often turns out to be the least expected. hope i still can manage a B on the MT. i’ll let you guys know.

btw, cunndogg has suggested that i return to opening windows when you click the links. therefore i’ve started a poll to see your responses. it’s nice to be able to run cgi-scripts. ^_^x first guestbook and now this. NO MORE ADS! w00h00! ^_^x

thanks to ryawn for donating this link. this was on LIVE television and sometimes a word just slips outta your mouth. ;p

thanks to ZUZ for donating this link. if you like this type of humor. go check out Liquid Generation.

i’ve jotted down some good quotes during my irc chats. hope you like them:

in the real world, those with the least talent often bark the loudest.

it is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees

My dad would’ve altered the former to:

in the real world, those who are guilty often bark the loudest

what do you think about getting to the LAX airport from Monterey Park in 15 minutes? fast huh? too bad that wasn’t me. hehe. took me 30mins to get there and thank god there wasn’t much traffic. my dad hasn’t been busting my chops on my driving skills anymore. i wonder why…

well, i met an interesting guy @ the airport. i was using my laptop with my wireless nic stuck in (obviously the wireless nic wasn’t doing anything since there’s no Access Points @ the airport, but i noticed that if i kept it in, it’ll stop it from auto-shutting down). well, he asked if i had any connection in here and i told him my story. he says cool and somehow i told him he i was going to berkeley and he told me he graduated majoring in CS. i asked if he was a berkeley graduate but he said no, and replied that he actually graduated from the University of India. he asked if BSD was still around and i said yep. then we went our own ways. ^_^x

I’ve seen many donation buttons lately and cunndogg actually showed me an article of a woman paying back her $20,000 of debt just by asking for donations. here’s the article on CNN. well, for anyone that has the money to support a poor college student, i’d be more than happy to accept it. -_^x

while i was going off to cs discussion today. there were this biker. guess he was either late or trying a new stunt. he jumped off the stairs with his bike and when he landed, he slipped off his seat and fell smack on the metal bar between his legs. @ this pt, i was cringing also. OUCH! i’d like to show you ungsunghero’s response when he heard this:

ungsunghero: damn you
ungsunghero: i just spit water all over my monitor

thanks to KiwiKYd for donating this link. Are u a DDR maniac? if so, then you’ll luv this game. ^_^x

New Pets – Canaries

when i went home, i found out my family has obtained some new pets. 2 yellow canaries were given to us by some friends. i took some quick shots right before i left:

canariescanaries

reminds me of the quote i heard in “Lilo and Stitch“:

Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

btw, i found out more about my name. for those that know my name, my name is actually GREEK. my dad says so. after a bit of research, it seems that there’s 2 origins of my name: British and Irish

crabyaple sent me a picture yesterday which many of you may find highly disturbing, so if you’re not in the mood, i advise you not to click on this link. i’ve actually posted the actual poster up here before, and if you twisted minds out there want to see the actual thing, here it is: link

welp, after my laptop auto-shutdown for the 50th time, i was about to give up on it. life sucked, i couldn’t find my stupid restore cd and tech support was no use. then suddenly, outta no where, the cd popped out! i formatted the hard drive and restored it to factory standards and no more auto-shutdown! w00h00. since it was a new computer, i decided to turn it into a ibook. here’s the screenshot. from now on, it’s going to be called: babykrunk – ibook. hehe.

i just brought back all the dvds i’ve accumulated over the first 2 months (which were sent home) with me to berkeley. my kenshin dvd collection is almost complete. just missing vol 21 and 22.

dvd collection

have u guys seen those MAC Switch ads. well, someone found a hilarious parody of it: thedarkside.com/switch. i may have sent u this link already since i’ve been mass IMing it to friends over the weekend.

Server Uptime

I HAVE RETURNED! too tired to fill you in on what’s happened in the past few days, but i promise i’ll make tomorrow’s entry spectacular!

server uptime

my server @ home – would’ve been closed to 90 days if my brother didn’t have to reboot it to test out the color printer. running on dual celeron 400@500mhz w/ 512 PC133 SDRAM.

Perfect Man and Perfect Woman

cable went down last nite. stupid storm! i was internet-less for 4 hrs!!! (maybe more cause i went to sleep before it came back on). i also gave my baby (code name: Krunk) 2 consecutive nites of rest. he sure loved it and is working like a fine killing machine!

did horrible on today’s midterm! sigh… yucky yuck yuck! don’t ask. let’s just stop @ this point.

thanks to RipFace for donating this link. pong is not just what it seems to be anymore. -_^x

well, this might be the last post for the next few days. finally going home and well you know, wont have my baby with me. sorry guys. come back on tuesday!

oh yeah, one new d00dle has been posted. enjoy ^_^x gotta start packing up now. ^_^x

Once upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After a perfect courtship, they had a perfect wedding. Their life together was, of course, perfect. One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect couple was driving their perfect car along a winding road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple, they stopped to help.

There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on the eve of Christmas, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle.

Soon they were driving along delivering the toys. Unfortunately, the driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple and Santa Claus had an accident. Only one of them survived the accident.

Question: Who was the survivor?

Answer: The perfect woman survived. She’s the only one who really existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as a perfect man.

Women stop reading here, that is the end of the joke. Men keep reading.

So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa Claus, the woman must have been driving. This explains why there was a car accident.

By the way, if you’re a woman and you’re still reading, this illustrates another point:

Women never listen!!!

Witch Hunter Robin – Shell

once again, today was just all about school and work. trying to finish as much as i can before i return home for the 3-day weekend. ^_^x well, registration for next semester’s classes did start today for me. 2 down, 2 more to go. ^_^x

i’m so hooked on a new anime song! you guys should check it out. it’s the Opening Song for the anime series: Witch Hunter Robin. – download (YouTube / Stage6)

saw this site through a FW signature. found it to be somewhat funny. link: it looks like a regular math tutor help site where you email him questions and he answers for a fee. however, near the bottom, i noticed this:

Calculus III (Text ISBN 0534359493, odd number only) $4 for each question. At lease $40 each time. Contact me

What i find funny is that it says odd only meaning this person probably has the answers to the odds in a user manual and is charging a minimum fee of $40 which is usually above the cost of the solution manual.

welp, i’m not going to mention who told me this, but one of my friends said that his grandmother told his dad that if he ‘u know what’ too much, his ‘thingy’ will fall off. ;p (sorry if some of you found this inappropriate.)

Comprimising University Security Networks

nothing much happened today. was rather boring in fact. oh well.

thanks to panzer for the following links:

welp, for those that live i socal, the deal is back! $29 one way from OAK to LAX/BUR. buy your tickets early for winter break or else you know what! u snooze, u looze. ^_^x unlike before where the $29 was only for a roundtrip, you can now purchase it as One-Way. canceling one of my flights was easier than ever. called them up, gave them my confirmation # and BOOM, i was done. $75 credit applied to my new purchase of $37.50 ($29+tax+fees) = $37.50 left for next flight. wondering why i bought a flight and then canceled? well i original have a ticket for 12/19 – 1/10. but i decided to extend my return date to 1/18. so i called up SouthWest (bleh, forgot to mention this was @ SouthWest the whole time) and they told me if i wanted to cancel the 2nd flight, i’d have to fly the first flight and call back to cancel. i said, cool, but i still needed a return flight, so a i bought a new ticket for 1/18 – 1/30 (since the cheap fare required a roundtrip). well, after reading the newsletter i received today, i called in did my work. you may be scared your first time canceling your ticket, but after the first time and noticing how nice and ez it is, it’s something actually fun to do! well, not fun, but no longer afraid of. hehe. ^_^x

<@HKenshin|work> “Berkeley, CA. Uc berkeley english major was sued for comprimising university security networks for the distribution of illegal anime files. In a strange turn of events, UCB junior Steven Yoo is being sued by multiple companies and universites. Japander

lost my red notebook today. was so worried. it’s like my personal diary, which really is just paper for me to jot down notes, draw doodles, draw more doodles, and do hw. i was about to give up after checking 3 lost&found places where it could’ve been. then @ home, i found it sitting on the shelf! YIPPEE! have you ever lost something which you value more than yourself? you become really depressed. this notebook wasn’t that particular item, but i can recall i’ve lost invaluable items such as hippo & data on my hard drive. remind me to post up my hippo memorial wallpaper for u guys. ^_^x

speaking of wallpaper, i recently switched over to Mac OSX. check out my screenshots:
max osx thememac osx theme

if you have japan fetish like i do, you should check out Japander. you should check out some of Arnold Swazzeneger’s (or however you spell his last name) commercials for Japan. For some reason it just doesn’t look like him. ;p

Japander:n.,& v.t. 1. a western star who uses his or her fame to make large sums of money in a short time by advertising products in Japan that they would probably never use. ~er (see synecure, prostitute) 2. to make an ass of oneself in Japanese media.

if you’re in the bay area and want to attend a screening of “8 Mile” for FREE, then check this out: linky. it’s going be shown this thursday @ the Metreon. ^_^x

thanks to esca, we now have channel statistics for our #calnime IRC Chat Room. check them out here: linky.
