WarCraft III Addiction

before you ask me why i didn’t have an update for yesterday, i have a valid reason: WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos. Just started playing the game yesterday and it’s very addictive. Although 3D Graphix aren’t as good as those new 3D games out there, the strategy and AI has definitely improved since Star Craft.

Had a really fun day today with my frined ungsunghero. Went to Red Lobster for lunch and then SHOPPING!!! Of course not for clothing, but TOYS!!! hehe. ^_^x Went to Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples, and Fry’s. We both got our Price Match with Staples. Bought 100 CD-Rs for -$10.00. Yes that’s right, the negative sign is there. After $30 MIR (mail-in rebate), we make $10 for buying those CD-Rs. nice huh?

welp, i’m not the type to brag, but i just wanted to show u guys this: eBay #1366819120. Couldn’t believe i got $312 for it! Only costed me ~$300 to get the reward and that came with 3 Round Trips from OAK to LAX. Guess you could say they gave me free trips or even said they paid me to fly. hehe. ^_^x

that’s all for tonite. ^_^x

Going to Asia

For those that don’t know yet… Actually, i dont believe i’ve told anyone yet. well, i did send out a email. oh well. I’ll be off to Asia from 7/28 to 8/17. Going to Japan, Hong Kong, and China. It’s going to be SO FUN!!!

i also decided that white on green looks a lot better than gray on green. or is that grey. what’s the difference? english and american english? hehe.

welp, today’s a short one. sorry bout that. ;p

Different Metals = Different Reduction Potentials

uh oh! something has happened to animebon’s blue bug! was @ best buy today, and while opening the window, we heard a *crack* sound like the window was grinding against sand or a rock. the window no longer went up nor down. hopefully the blue bug will be better tomorrow after it makes it visit to the doctor, i mean dealer. hehe. ^_^x

picture of the week has been updated. enjoy ^_^x

Krunk4Ever (12:39:51 AM): now i remember
Krunk4Ever (12:40:11 AM): remember how u said my nerves in my teeth send out electrical systems
ungsunghero (12:40:19 AM): yeah
Krunk4Ever (12:40:25 AM): thats why when i stuck a paperclip to my tooth/cavity filling
Krunk4Ever (12:40:27 AM): to my tongue
Krunk4Ever (12:40:33 AM): i’d get that funny sensation
Krunk4Ever (12:40:45 AM): but weird thing is if my tongue touces the cavity filling
Krunk4Ever (12:40:47 AM): there is nothing
Krunk4Ever (12:40:55 AM): must have that paperclip in between for it to feel
ungsunghero (12:41:14 AM): b/c the paperclip and the filling are different metals
ungsunghero (12:41:23 AM): different metals = different reduction potentials
ungsunghero (12:41:27 AM): (AHHHH!!!!!!)
Krunk4Ever (12:41:54 AM): so you’re saying when my tongue is touching my teeth
Krunk4Ever (12:41:57 AM): the current is there
ungsunghero (12:42:01 AM): no
ungsunghero (12:42:05 AM): there is no current
ungsunghero (12:42:18 AM): the bridge is your tongue
Krunk4Ever (12:42:18 AM): why does the curretn complete with the paperclip then?
ungsunghero (12:42:28 AM): the current will go from your filling to your filling
Krunk4Ever (12:42:42 AM): oh
ungsunghero (12:42:43 AM): electrons have no reason to travel from your filling to your filling
Krunk4Ever (12:42:52 AM): i c
Krunk4Ever (12:42:53 AM): gotcha
Krunk4Ever (12:42:55 AM): thanks ^_^x
ungsunghero (12:42:56 AM): but, with the paperclip there, the electrons will travel from one to the other
ungsunghero (12:43:07 AM): YOU OWE ME LUNCH FOR MAKING ME BRING BACK THESE HORRIBLE FACTS
Krunk4Ever (12:43:12 AM): sure thing!
Krunk4Ever (12:43:26 AM): 2 lunches and 1 dinner?
ungsunghero (12:43:39 AM): no
ungsunghero (12:43:40 AM): 1 and 1
ungsunghero (12:43:43 AM): i think
ungsunghero (12:43:49 AM): <– confuzzled
Krunk4Ever (12:44:21 AM): okay
Krunk4Ever (12:44:23 AM): neato

Worst Traffic Jam EVER

Had the worse traffic jam ever today! Was stuck in traffic over 2hrs! Rumor that it was a bomb threat @ Puente Hills mall off of Azusa (the whole Azusa Ave. was blockaded; police wouldn’t allow entrance) or it was a flipped over tanker. For those that are familiar with City of Industry, it tooke me 45mins to get from the intersection of Azusa & Gale to Fullerton & Gale. Sigh… Going to check this link more often now.

Staples finally sent me my WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos today. Got the human edition for only $25.30! nice eh? hehe.

for those that haven’t heard of my RAM/Video Card problem, I’m happy to announce it was only a simply driver problem. Thanks to WinXP and it’s rollback feature, i no longer incur anymore freezes. w00h00!

I get to DRIVE again!

Took a drive to Redondo Beach today. Well the city at least. Dropped by the retail store of PC Liquidator and grabbed some cheap monitors for the company. They had 17″ Dell Trinitons (Sony Rebadged) for $50 each. Of course they were used, but who needs new monitors @ the company anyway. They’re $59.99 on the website, but they’re holding a sale this week for only $49.99. nice!

GUESS WHAT!?!?! I get to drive again. I’m on probation tho. Have to drive my mom’s Ford Aerostar till sunday and if I’m good, I get my Civic back! w00h00!

anyway, g’nite ^_^zzz

New Computer

wow, it’s been a whole week since i’ve updated my site. sorry about that folks. cyberwings is a process of moving to a new server and I was too lazy to update the dns name servers to have it forward to my OCF account.

well, a lot has happened this week, too much even for me to remember. hehe.

I’ll start off with my new computer. Not totally new, but new motherboard and hd:

The reason for this upgrade was because i was experiencing frequent freezes/crashes on my system. And NO, I was not using Win9x. In fact I was using WinXP which has ALWAYS been stable till I installed a raid controller card and even a COMPLETE format didnt fix it. And YES, the RAID controller has already been removed. hehe, i think i’m beginning to sound like a certain someone i’ve very familiar with.

Here’s a picture of my old mb + cpu fan. (notice the excess thermal paste i used. i was uneducated about thermal paste back then. always thought the more the better. hehe)

Welp, i sorta ran into a roadblock during this upgrade. Realized I didn’t have DDR-RAM and the new motherboard only supported DDR in contrast with my old ECS motherboard which still had SD-RAM compatibility. Guess more RAM for my server @ home. hehe. Oh well, i was forced (yes, my computer is my life and i feel as i’m dead with it not on) to pay summer ram prices ($49 shipped for Crucial Technology 256MB PC2100 DDR-RAM). Best Buy just had a sale this weekend which I got in on (PNY 256MB PC2100 DDR-RAM for $50 – $20MIR)

here’s some pictures during the upgrade:

next thing i’d like to talk about is networks. u know, how ethernet cables have 8 wires. well 4 of them are useless. I found that out from animebons who i was helping creating some network jacks for the company i work @.

There’s only 4 wires that are being used, 2 for transmitting (wire 1&2), 2 for receiving (wire 3&6). So inside a hub, switch, or a jack, only 4 wires are being used. So I saw how 1 jack miracuously became 2! by using wire 4,5,7,8 and converting them to wire 1,2,3,6, we were able to run 2 network jacks to the server which used to be one before. The link below shows you exactly what i’m talking about.

Linksys’ FAQ

last but not least, some couple updates within the site. as i noted in my dreambook, dreambooks are now part of my site through the magic of php. nifty trick eh?

i also learnt how to use javascript to pop up those windows for pictures. enjoy ^_^x.

K-Pax

watched K-Pax today and it was an awesome movie! I hope the info I provide here won’t be any spoilers for anyone. 2 interesting parts I’d like to mention is:

  1. Prot says “Every being in the universe knows right from wrong. You humans, most of you, subscribe to this policy of an eye for an eye, a life for a life, which is known throughout the universe for it’s stupidity. Even your Buddha and your Christ had quite a different vision, but nobody’s paid much attention to them, not even Buddhists or Christians. You humans, sometimes it’s hard to imagine how you made it this far.

As heiyaheiya said “you seem to have a very strong japan fetish huh?” For those that has seen my subprofile lately, they’ll notice this new info:
A concept related to this is “Hito no me,” which means “the eyes of others” and refers to the silent, always-watching eyes of everyone around you, looking at you to make sure you’re not doing anything too far outside the norm. I encountered this when I moved to a new neighborhood, back when I was single. Trash day was Wednesday and Friday, and you had to put your trash in the assigned place before 7 am on the morning they were to come pick it up — you could not put it out, say, the night before. Since getting up at 7 am was a little early for me (I worked from 2 to 10 pm and stayed up late), I tried “bending” their rules just a little, putting my trash out at night very quietly. But in the end, the disapproving eyes of all those living around me wore me down, and I conformed. I felt that the power of all those eyes was far more powerful than, say, if they had a law requiring me to put my trash out before 7 am. The concept of “hito no me” is one of the most important reasons why Japan is the way it is.

I just found it interesting how these 2 things related. ^_^x

  2. I know this is definitely a spoiler, therefore I’ll hide the text. Just highlight the following empty lines to read it: (Show)

Pyromaniac

went to home depot and got myself some electrical tape. used it to complete my round ide cable project. the outcome was actually pretty nice. here’s a pic:
homemade rounded cable

as for those that were unable to get animebon’s site to work, i’ve copied over the comic strip i wanted you guys to see:
da hobo - july 4th - pyromaniac

Homemade Rounded Cables

ever wanted round ide cables but didnt want to cough up the extra bucks, well thanks to ungsunghero (who was apparently bored) decided to create some home-made round ide cables. it’s really cool. all i’m missing now is some electrical tape.

ungsunghero (10:48:36 PM): hey drunk
Krunk4Ever (10:48:46 PM): hola
ungsunghero (10:49:14 PM): ever try to make your own rounded cables?
Krunk4Ever (10:49:20 PM): nope
ungsunghero (10:49:27 PM): it’s fun!
Krunk4Ever (10:49:35 PM): just twist and tape right?
ungsunghero (10:49:42 PM): you could do that
ungsunghero (10:49:44 PM): or do what i did
ungsunghero (10:49:55 PM): take a knife, and separate the wires by hand
ungsunghero (10:49:57 PM): roll, and tape
Krunk4Ever (10:50:02 PM): oooh!
Krunk4Ever (10:50:04 PM): does that work?
ungsunghero (10:50:11 PM): then again, i was only “practicing”
ungsunghero (10:50:16 PM): with a messed up floppy cable
ungsunghero (10:50:20 PM): i assume it’ll work
Krunk4Ever (10:50:29 PM): well,
Krunk4Ever (10:50:33 PM): i have tons of ide cables now
Krunk4Ever (10:50:38 PM): bought 3 ata100 for $1
ungsunghero (10:50:42 PM): where at?
Krunk4Ever (10:50:48 PM): cause i thought it was my cables causing problems
Krunk4Ever (10:50:55 PM): well, it was a special deal from my uncle
ungsunghero (10:51:05 PM): nice
Krunk4Ever (10:51:07 PM): he custom builds computers
Krunk4Ever (10:51:11 PM): and has tons laying around
ungsunghero (10:51:12 PM): if i had a digicam…i’d show you my work
Krunk4Ever (10:51:17 PM): lemme try
Krunk4Ever (10:51:21 PM): what;d u do afterwards?
ungsunghero (10:51:28 PM): electrical tape
ungsunghero (10:51:31 PM): wrap it around
ungsunghero (10:51:41 PM): do you have a nail clipper?
Krunk4Ever (10:51:42 PM): ata100 are much thinner tho
Krunk4Ever (10:51:45 PM): yah
Krunk4Ever (10:51:46 PM): i do
ungsunghero (10:51:56 PM): does it have that “tool”?
Krunk4Ever (10:52:03 PM): that knifey?
ungsunghero (10:52:06 PM): ok…
ungsunghero (10:52:08 PM): yes
ungsunghero (10:52:19 PM): use that…it makes a little hole between 2 wires
ungsunghero (10:52:26 PM): and they separate very easily
ungsunghero (10:53:32 PM): here’s a tip
ungsunghero (10:53:48 PM): use the tip of the “knifey”, push gently, and make a hole between the wires
ungsunghero (10:54:04 PM): then slide it gently in one direction until you can pull the wires apart
ungsunghero (10:54:22 PM): this way, you minimize the risk of tearing apart the plastic covering each wire
Krunk4Ever (10:54:28 PM): have u tried an ata100 cable yet
Krunk4Ever (10:54:33 PM): there’ much thinner
ungsunghero (10:54:50 PM): nope…i know
ungsunghero (10:54:56 PM): that would probably require an exacto
ungsunghero (10:54:57 PM): haha
Krunk4Ever (10:55:24 PM): welp
Krunk4Ever (10:55:27 PM): did my first cut
Krunk4Ever (10:55:41 PM): 40something more to go
ungsunghero (10:55:46 PM): only 38!
Krunk4Ever (10:55:56 PM): oh
Krunk4Ever (10:55:57 PM): really?
ungsunghero (10:56:06 PM): wait…40 wire or 80?
Krunk4Ever (10:56:35 PM): uh
Krunk4Ever (10:56:38 PM): dont wanna count them
ungsunghero (10:56:42 PM): (ata100 or not?)
Krunk4Ever (10:56:42 PM): looks like 40
Krunk4Ever (10:56:45 PM): ata100
ungsunghero (10:56:52 PM): then that’s 80 wire
ungsunghero (10:56:57 PM): which requires 39 cuts
Krunk4Ever (10:56:57 PM): no way
Krunk4Ever (10:56:59 PM): yeah
Krunk4Ever (10:57:02 PM): that’s what i meant
ungsunghero (10:57:08 PM): to save time, don’t do each individual wire
ungsunghero (10:57:11 PM): do 2 or 3 at a time
ungsunghero (10:57:18 PM): i just did them all b/c i’m REALLY bored
ungsunghero (10:57:28 PM): (and i’m using a floppy cable…34 wire…16 cuts)
ungsunghero (10:59:05 PM): one more tip
ungsunghero (10:59:10 PM): don’t cut at an angle
ungsunghero (10:59:14 PM): you’ll shred through the cable
ungsunghero (10:59:21 PM): and don’t pull apart rapidly (same thing)
ungsunghero (10:59:26 PM): <– speaking from experience
Krunk4Ever (10:59:57 PM): arrggh
Krunk4Ever (10:59:59 PM): sliced into one
ungsunghero (11:00:13 PM): your blade is probably too sharp then
ungsunghero (11:00:21 PM): let me paypal you $.33 for your loss
ungsunghero (11:00:21 PM): haha
ungsunghero (11:01:17 PM): argh! just pulled a cable out of the connector!!!
Krunk4Ever (11:02:48 PM): hehe
Krunk4Ever (11:03:15 PM): the wire itself hasnt been spliced
Krunk4Ever (11:03:17 PM): still workable?
ungsunghero (11:03:27 PM): probably
ungsunghero (11:03:33 PM): use a small piece of electrical tape
ungsunghero (11:03:35 PM): it’ll hold
ungsunghero (11:03:40 PM): btw, i just figured something out
ungsunghero (11:04:00 PM): make a cut between each wire, then split them all at once!
ungsunghero (11:04:01 PM): HAHAHA
ungsunghero (11:04:07 PM): makes life so much simpler!
Krunk4Ever (11:04:33 PM): yeah
Krunk4Ever (11:04:36 PM): that’s what i’m doing
ungsunghero (11:04:46 PM): you could’ve told me that
ungsunghero (11:04:46 PM): !
Krunk4Ever (11:04:55 PM): i thought that’s what u told me to do
ungsunghero (11:05:39 PM): i sort of did
ungsunghero (11:05:51 PM): except what i was doing is making the “incision”, then separating the wires COMPLETELY
ungsunghero (11:05:59 PM): which causes a huge mess as you are nearly finished
ungsunghero (11:06:01 PM): <– stupid
Krunk4Ever (11:07:39 PM): another thing i learnt
Krunk4Ever (11:07:43 PM): is cut near the middle
ungsunghero (11:07:49 PM): why?
Krunk4Ever (11:07:58 PM): saves u time ripping
Krunk4Ever (11:08:14 PM): cause when one end stops ripping
Krunk4Ever (11:08:25 PM): u have to grab another end closer to the unripped end for more support
ungsunghero (11:08:50 PM): it’s easier for me to start near the top
ungsunghero (11:09:06 PM): besides, near the top of the cable (at each connector), the wires flatten out
ungsunghero (11:09:17 PM): so it’s no use to separate them that close to the connector
Krunk4Ever (11:09:17 PM): u can flatten the wire
Krunk4Ever (11:09:22 PM): but using the corner of your table
Krunk4Ever (11:09:34 PM): and watcha call it
Krunk4Ever (11:09:40 PM): do that smoothing out trip
Krunk4Ever (11:09:42 PM): trick*
ungsunghero (11:10:07 PM): it doesn’t matter how neatly we tear the wires, right?
ungsunghero (11:10:13 PM): it’ll all end up inside the tape!!
ungsunghero (11:10:14 PM): !
ungsunghero (11:10:39 PM): yay! i’m done!
ungsunghero (11:10:53 PM): 34 wire floppy cable…33 cuts…each individual wire cut
ungsunghero (11:11:11 PM): btw, what were you doing before loser peter had to ruin your night by tempting you to make your own rounded cables?
Krunk4Ever (11:11:22 PM): now i need electrical tape
Krunk4Ever (11:13:29 PM): u think pvc tape would do?
ungsunghero (11:13:48 PM): pvc tape? i don’t like the sound of that
ungsunghero (11:13:49 PM): you can try it
ungsunghero (11:16:16 PM): my sister thinks i’m crazy
ungsunghero (11:18:48 PM): can you imagine us, retired, making rounded cables like old ladies knitting???
ungsunghero (11:18:52 PM): shudder…
Krunk4Ever (11:19:08 PM): lol
Krunk4Ever (11:19:35 PM): pvc tape isnt sticky enough
Krunk4Ever (11:19:41 PM): guess it was meant for plastic pipews
ungsunghero (11:20:12 PM): i guess so
ungsunghero (11:20:16 PM): i’m having blisters
ungsunghero (11:20:18 PM): are you?
Krunk4Ever (11:20:31 PM): nope
Krunk4Ever (11:20:38 PM): or not yet
ungsunghero (11:25:39 PM): you know how i got started on this?
ungsunghero (11:26:33 PM): you know how floppy cables have little separations in their wires
ungsunghero (11:26:34 PM): ?
ungsunghero (11:26:37 PM): well…i got bored
ungsunghero (11:26:43 PM): and pulled them apart
ungsunghero (11:26:51 PM): you could probably figure out the rest…

painting: who knew besides getting high, there was something even funner! was helping my uncle paint a room today with my cuz and got paint ALL OVER my hands. At first I was like grrrr, will need something to get this off (my cuz suggested paint thinner). however, as it dried, i realized I could peel it off. just like glue!. You guys ever just squeeze glue on to your hand, wait for it to dry, and then peel it off like it was your skin. If you haven’t it’s really fun. Of course I end it by munching on it. I wouldn’t suggest that since it doesnt especially taste good. hehe.

last thing i wanted to note was that Arby’s has INCREDIBLE service. Today we went out to lunch @ Arby’s in City of Industry. I ordered an Ultimate BLT and my cuz ordered a Beef ‘N Cheddar. While we were chatting and waiting for our meal to come, I realized that people who ordered after us were getting their meals. I thought maybe ours took a little longer. Finally I got up and he asked if we got our meal yet. We both answered nope. He apologized and immediately began filling out plate. We were like, okay, people often forget (especially me, hehe). Then he asked if we wanted a shake to go with our meal. We both declined (later finding out he was offering it to us for free). I got my curly fries SUPER-SIZED for free. He also threw in an extra Roast Beef and Cheddar ‘N Beef to show their sincerity. We were like kewl!

My 4th of July

I would like to take this time to introduce you to animebon’s site. although not complete yet, the backbone and structure has been finished and today july 4th is his debut day. besides that he’s an awesomely cool cuz and his website’s design is great, he’s featuring a comic strip da Hobo. This week’s edition includes your favorite character: ME! Go check it out. What’s so great about the comic strip is that it’s so true! me <– pyromaniac

I hope you enjoyed Independence Day. Mine was a Blast! Spent it with my family and relatives. My uncle bought “The Big One” (~$200) and we burnt it all in City of Industry. Stupid Arcadia banned fireworks. Besides fireworks, my uncle also brought along a bunch of chinese fire crackers! Those things are freaken loud! Plus they burn fast too. No 7 second run away time. Light it, starts popping a second later. Reminded me of Armaggedon where that smart guy says: If the firecracker blows on the surface of my hand, i may get a minor burnt. But if I close my hand and set the firecracker off, looks like i’ll need someone to feed me for the remainder of my life.

remember how jokes/riddles were so cool when you were in elementary school. well they still are, but we no longer laugh at nonsense jokes anymore and sometimes even question why we laughed @ them before. those knock knock jokes and etc. welp, tonight during dinner, my little cuzins came up to me and started bombarding me with jokes. sorta like how they determine who’s the coolest by telling the most jokes. i always have problems retaining jokes in my head, so i won’t be posting them here tonite. telling a joke in the wrong way ruins it so much. but their line of jokes ranged from apples on a tree; mexican, chinese, and french; farts and grenade (they found this especially funny); and many more. They also had some ‘hotdog’ *cough* jokes if you catch my drift. The youngest boy (age ~7) even knew about it. Bad influences from his other sisters I guess.

welp, as the announcement says, krunk4ever.com will be temporarily hosted on my ocf-berkeley account. cyberwings my host/server has encountered some problems during upgrades/migration and speeds will resume back to normal no later than friday.
