Back in LA

welp, this is my first nite back. weather down in the south isn’t any better than the weather up north. was pouring on my drive back (yes that means i once again get to drive! w00h00!). lydia and liam were nice enough to drive me to the BART station, so i was able to avoid the rain (10min walk from my apartment to the BART station), i would’ve been soaked even with my umbrella. it was pouring like crazy. while lining up to check in my luggage @ SouthWest, i bumped into kenny (from keppel). on the plane, i sat directly across from krazieyellw. we chatted for awhile and i found out she was in ChemE. she told me martin was going to return tomorrow morning. haven’t chatted with martin in such a L . . O . . N . . G time. on my way to baggage claim, i bumped into Ali (a friend of mines in EE20 and CS61B). i was like… wow!

today’s final went okay. drew tons of doodles. too bad i won’t be getting my final back (well, at least not the actual hard copy, but i’ll be getting my score, or i’d scan these pictures up for you).

in the mail today before i left the apartment, i got my free Treasure Planet PS2 (PlayStation 2) game. supposedly kelloggs was giving away 50,000 so my chance of winning was rather high. hehe.

found out while installing my 2nd external hd, that windows xp doesn’t support fat32 partitions of greater than 32GB. stupid windows. =( had to split my 40GB HD into 2 20GB HD.

New Laundry Machines!

last final tomorrow. wish me luck! going home tomorrow also (leaving berkeley around ~6pm; flight’s @ 8:30) page might not be updated for a month, maybe i’ll find time @ home to update. maybe… hehe ^_^x

the laundry machines finally work. yes, my laundry has been accumulating for the past 4 weeks. but the new machines are Sears Kenmore. High Quality washers/dryers i’ve gotta say. worked pretty well too! ^_^x

Fixing Biological Clock

sorry about missing yesterday’s entry. if u didn’t know already, i was fixing my biological clock. been going to sleep @ 10am and waking up @ 5pm for a couple of days. decided i had to fix my clock before my final on thursday @ 8am. procedure was painful where i felt drowsy most of monday. went to msticazn to borrow his “Minority Report” and chilled there while he studied for his final. i was waiting for my review session to start @ 6pm. oh yeah the weather has been going crazy the past few days. showers on and off. when i started walking to his place @ 2pm, the sun was out and now rain at all. then it started sprinkling. i had my umbrella in my backpack (smart thing i do now due to berkeley’s weird weather schedule). then it stopped, but the sun didn’t return. 3 blocks away from msticazn’s house, it began pouring like crazy! my hamtaro (on my backpack) was completely soaked! apparently msticazn is a big mashimaro fan like me! weeeeeeeeeee! i also got to try out kharizma’s famous sugar cookies. they were good (apparently msticazn and his apartment-mates were afraid she’d poison the cookies so she could steal their PS2, hehe). review session was horrible. fell asleep a couple of times. andrew called and his keys were somehow with his auto-mechanic and needed me home to let him in. the rest of the night didn’t really ring a bell to me for i fell asleep sometime later.

today was pretty cool. went to see the opening of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers @ the new AMC that justed opened in emeryville. this theater just opened today @ midnight for LOTR’s opening show. friend helped get us tickets for the show and the movie was awesome! a lot better than the 1st one in my opinion. they were giving out free posters to everyone (which i lost/forgot @ the theater) and they were throwing out t-shirts to ppl. lydia got one. at first i thought they were LOTR t-shirts, but apparently just AMC t-shirts. b000000. then one lucky girl got an LOTR action figure.

i wonder if fantasy reads my website. well if he does, he’ll know that i finally know who his hime is. thanks for sending me the CAA video scrapbook, it helped my search. ^_^x long story short, fantasy has been head over heels for this girl and everytime he gets dumped multiple times and each and every time would be coming on to #calnime and claim suicide. welp, finally like the 8th time he claims that they’re broken up, he says it’s for real, and i ask for her picture just to see exactly who made fantasy so crazy. he claims he promised the girl not to reveal anything. welp i honor that, but i also have my sources. -_^x

groups have been pumping out anime like crazy for the past 2 days. another Hikaru no Go and another Dragon Drive back to back! then ToriyamaWorld released a new HNG chapter. sigh… even i don’t have enough time to finish watching all of these. hehe. g’nite ^_^zzz

Faulty RAM

cd-mcc and slapshot came by today and we help troubleshoot his computer system which has been dead for the past month? maybe more? apparently after several motherboard replacements (4 times?), we found out today that it was in fact the ram’s problem. stupid generic ram, swore to god i’d never trust them anymore, after i found out it was what caused my system to crash every other day, to reboot automatically. after he successfully installed win98se then upgraded to winxp, we watched The Lawnmower Man. weird movie i’ve gotta say. interesting, but the computer graphix and design i must say were extremely lacking. then again, this movie was probably made like 10 years ago? supposedly there’s several sequels to this movie. i don’t intend to watch them @ this point, but who knows what might come up. ^_^x

then i watched Harry Potter – Chamber of Secrets (once again in dvd quality). it’s a good fun movie. meant for kids and family. then again, if you’ve read the book, u might not enjoy this as much since you already know who opened the chamber of secrets and who Tom Riddle is… ^_^x

oh yeah, when cd-mcc came back, he made up another tycoon. after reading these 2 tycoons, i think you’ll have a general sense of what type of humor he likes. ^_^x

Locked Out

wow, this past few days have been just an extended weekend for me with no hw and all play. liam came over today and we watched “Die Another Day” (dvd quality). above average action movie in my opinion. awesome sports cars, but the idea of that big gun was stolen from somewhere else which i don’t remember right now. most likely an anime i saw.

the worst thing happened to me today. after dinner, i got thirsty and decided to go to the convenience store next door. right after i closed my door, i realized i forgot my keys. worse of all, i was only armed with $2.25 (1 $1-bill and 5 quarters). this meant i had no cellphone, and no wallet (no access to soda = no access to computers). i went upstairs to my apartment manager’s room to see if she was in (but no one answered). i then went downstairs to check if snakescott was in, but apparently he went to study for his final. i didn’t really have much of a choice but wait for someone i knew return. meanwhile i was getting more and more thirsty. when i left the apartment complex i left a piece of cardboard keeping the front door ajar. swung right and bought myself an Arizona Ice Tea: Raspberry Flavor. Quickly returned and sat on the stairs awaiting snakescott or my apartment manager. oh yeah, at this point i’ve tried calling the emergency # on the telephone pad outside the building. both times i got an answering machine on my apartment manager’s cellphone and both times the telephone pad hung up right after it beeped for leaving a message. i couldn’t even leave a msg. =( so 2.5hrs i sat there, seeing people come up and down the stairs. a couple friend brought back a computer monitor. then there were these 2 guys that came to pick up their girlfriends. meanwhile i sat there in a t shirt and shorts (while it was raining outside). oh yeah, to keep myself busy, i was playing with the quarters i had and trying to enumerate the stuff i learned from cs70 (discrete math and one of the subjects we learned were probability and biased coins). i flipped the 6 coins i had (now 4 quarters, 1 nickel, and 1 dime after i bought my drink) 13x. 2 outta those 13x landed on all heads! what’s the possibility of that! hehe. then i was rolling the coins down the stairs. finally i heard the garage door opened. i was ooooooh! i sat there staring @ the door for what seemed like eternity. the my apartment manager walks in. i was like, “YES! Thank goodness!” i walked up to her and explained my situation and she said, “oh my, i’ll go open the door for you after i drop my groceries.” i offered to help her carry them up and she gladly accepted my offer. after she opened the door, she suggested i make a spare key and keep one in my wallet just in case. also another suggestion she made was that she’s clumsy like this too, so instead of locking the doorknob which u can do from the inside, she locks the the top latch, which requires a key if you’re trying to lock the door. good suggestions i must say. ^_^x glad that’s over.

finally the anime world is trickling back to life. Naruto 11 was released today. me very happy. me very bored for the past week. ^_^x

iPod vs MZ-N1 Result

welp, seems like tycoon of the day wont be updated tonite. guess cd-mcc is already slacking off ;p. j/k. he just finished his finals and went home for a little celebration i suppose.

Need to Poop?

today was an awesome day. think i slept till ~5pm. went to bed around 8am (just like today; current time is 7:49am). i’m starting to get a bit hungry tho. hmmmmm.

just finished watching minority report. it’s a pretty good movie. not really an in-depth movie with much thinking, but it was nice to see what our future society looked liked. if u saw this movie, those LCDs were DOPE! i wish i had one.

thanks to cd-mcc, their’s been a new category added to the this site: “Tycoon of the Day“. it first came as an idea when i was arguing i wasn’t a tycoon fan and him trying to convince me i should be one… (welp, too bad i’m firm on my beliefs on which games i like and i don’t like too many games; especially after jedi knight II gave me 3d motion sickness). well, he was bringing up a bunch of random tycoons (ie NFL Tycoon, Video Game Tycoon, etc) and the titles just got weirder and weirder until he finally told me he was making these up. he said that i should have a topic on my site so he can make up Tycoons. I originally wanted to call it “Tycoon of the Moment” (all of you should know how successful my Picture of the Week was, now known as Picture of the Moment), but he said he was able to handle one a day. we’ll see about that. ;p Anyway, I’m also adding a new category called: “Previous Polls” in case anyone wanted to see the results of the previous polls.

finished my 2nd final today and i’m pretty happy with it. hope i get that B. ^_^x anyway, i have one final left and that’s on the 19th which is NEXT THURSDAY. i’m a free man for an entire week. sweet! ^_^x too bad anime releases are slowed down due to college students and finals. argggh, i was expecting them to celebrate with me. )o;

i finally found the perfect player to play HKVCDs. it’s called XingMPEGplayer. ever watched a movie where one channel was one language, and the opposite channel was in another language (common on HKVCDs where one channel is cantonese and one channel is mandarin). before i would always have to change the balance on the main volume control and it would only come outta 1 speaker/side of earphones. well, thanks to a couple friends from #calnime who told me that XingMPEGplayer has this audio option where i can select audio left/right to come out of BOTH my channels. thought some of you may find this useful since Windows Media Player and many MANY other movie players seem to lack this feature (ie: QuickTime, RealPlayer, etc.)

Final – Optional?

in the midst of today’s final, our GSI (TA in some universities; stands for graduate student instructor) took out one of those big 8-balls and said, “hmmmmmm, should i make this final optional?” of course we thought he was joking, so we continued our test. “The 8 ball says: All Signs Point to YES.” he goes on telling us that it was decided that the final was made optional and if it helps our grade, it’ll be included. else, they’ll discard it. One student asked what if the 8-ball said NO. our GSI said, he’d have shaken it again. in fact the class before already knew about this but was told not to tell us so we would study. dunno if this was a good thing or not. i spent 10 hrs studying… yucky and to find out this final was optional. i could’ve used that time to study for tomorrow’s final.

the answers to yesterday’s riddle:

Riddle 1: the entire riddle was meant to mislead you. the way you should think about this is that the 3 men paid a total of $30 and got $3 back ($1 for each person) yielding a net cost of $27. what the $2 the bellboy kept was the $2 extra that they paid. $27 – $2 = $25 (amount they should’ve paid).

Riddle 2: There is in fact 6 “F”s:

supposedly the F’s in the word OF is very hard for the human brain to acknowledge. i think it was because it doesn’t make the fa- sound. but who knows ;p

telebears has just been a nitemare lately. haven’t been able to access it online for 2 days already. and my telebears started monday. (for those that don’t know telebears, it’s berkeley’s class registration system). anyway, i finally gave up telebears online and went for the fone. got in on my first try and although it took me 30mins to figure out how to use the fone system, i got the remainder of the classes i want registered. here’s a temporary look of my next semester schedule.

welp, a close friend of mine (not sure if he wants me to say his name) made a donation (located on the left if you feel like giving in this jolly season ^_^x). however, those greedy bastards took everything! grrrrr. welp it was no use keeping $0.00 so i refunded the money. hehe.

it’s 5:38am and i’ve been studying since 4pm this afternoon. really really tired right now, but finished studying. in the process of making my cheat sheet right now. 1st final is tomorrow @ 1:30pm. i’ll probably get ~6-7hrs of sleep.

today we were watching some kung fu tournaments on ESPN. one was Breaking Championship which u try to be creative and impress the judges by what you break and how you break them (usually breaks, baseball bats, and etc.) Then there was this kung fu dance type of thingy and cdm asked me wasn’t this so awesome. two words: joe eigo. ^_^x (most of the links on the webpage don’t seem to work. i recently deleted all my backups to it. so hopefully his mirrors will come back up soon.
