Happy Birthday SueOn

first of all, i’d like to wish HAPPY BIRTHDAY to SUEON!!!

this marks his 19th bday (he’s a guy so i won’t worry about him killing for telling everyone his age. hehe). anyway, couple of my friends have turn or soon will turn 20. this marks the end of our teenage-hood (if there’s such a word). sigh… those years were so beautiful and if i had a choice, i’d relive them again and make the best outta it. carii suggested that we’re closer to age of drinking. that’s true but who in the right mind wants to put that nasty bitter liquid into your mouth (was tempted to crap, but crap is usually solid, but then again, lol!) well, we know why carii want’s to grow up faster, although she claims that isn’t true, but i mean to say that w/o thinking… now comon! j/k ;p

welp, my web hosting company claims something went wrong with their ASP server causing my site to be down for 8hrs yesterday. was down from 7pm to 4am and made me reach an all-time low in October of 38 visitors. well, that’s not exactly the truth, i’ve hit 32 in early october, but nothing below 38 since then. but today it rebounded to a nice 71. sounds like i’m some stock reporter or something. hehe ^_^x

new Prince of Tennis and Dragon Drive is out! what really sucks is that one pot wasn’t able to satisfy me again, and the stupid (well, i shouldn’t call them stupid since they are giving me free pot) only gave me enough for one!!! I’m dying here for more!!! I once again got to meet the cute chibi. Here’s some more snapshots of him. ^_^

Cancelling AOL

site seems to be down since 7pm last nite. dunno what’s up, but hope they fix it soon enough. well, when u see this message, that means they’re probably up already. hehe.

harrybons just realized his house now has mice! on contrary, this mouse is extremely cute. i think it’s a pet or something, but he’s found 3 of them already. he let them go off in the streets but i think they’d just come back since they did find a way in in the first place. hehe

today’s game was disappointing. It was SO CLOSE! but the angels have won this game. the score was 11-10 and both giants and angels have made astonishing comebacks. oh well, next game is on tuesday in SF. GO GIANTS!!!

while i was on the phone with AOL several days ago. (wondering why? well go check out why here) anyway, the customer service representative (from now on will be referred to as CSR) called me ma’am. i mean, it’s cool. my name toland is really unisex + i guess my voice isn’t that deep. anyway, i don’t really mind being called ma’am since i want the call to get over as soon as possible and getting into an argument that i’m a guy will just extend the time i have to speak with the CSR. this isn’t the first time. over 80% of my calls to stores, service, or calls from stupid telemarketers has always acknowledged me as a miss/ma’am. then today, i realized that there is a benefit of being acknowledge as a female! i mean they’re usually nicer to females, more likely to do what you asked them to, and DEFINITELY LESS RUDE. hehe.

Crazy Day

today’s been a rather crazy day. not only did the Giant’s win Game 1 of the world series, but i ran outta space on my 180GB rig today. The Giant’s were awesome and it was a well played game. when Robb Nen entered the 9th inning, i knew the Giant’s had the game within their grasp. Nen has had a perfect post season so far. Anyway, i tend to like to go against the mainstream because there’s no fun going with the main crowd. if i’m wrong then it’s a given. if i’m right, then it’ll be the best feeling. but looks like giants are going to kick angels butt this time. (angels/socal fans – sorry if this offended you in anyway). anyway, rumor is that robb nen is signing autographs on monday for those that are interested in SF Niketown. Any idea what was on this drive? this was all unlicensed anime! this doesn’t included the licensed anime in a separated drive. for time being, new anime will be going into my upload drive. but i really have no idea what to burn right now. nothing is complete yet and i hate burning anime before it’s finished. sigh…

Website Updates

sigh… one thing i always forget to do is change the date on these entries. anyway, php is so cool! i rewrote my menu.php file and the file shrunk for 551 lines of code to 154. nice huh? i’ve redone the menu images for the heck of it. i removed several things if you may have noticed. first was the webstats. i decided i should be the only one to have access to this info so too bad ;p. as for the guestbook, dreambook just didn’t cut it, so i decided to remove it until i find a better one which i like, or maybe… maybe i can implement one of my own. i do have the access to do so now. hehe. ^_^x

remember that argument of size i had awhile ago. well, the class finally got there and it was proven so. all the questions i had asked is answered. if you’re interested in finding out why the set of integers is the same size as natural #s, then you should check out this lecture note.

3 new doodles are up. not part of my best work i’ve gotta say. but doodles are doodles. ^_^x

UPDATE: YES YES YES! After 45mins of fidgeting with perl and cgi-scripts, i finally got a working GuestBook. comments and feedback about all these new changes would be nice. ^_^x

CS61B Midterm

found out i have no cs hw due this friday so i’m one happy man! first friday that i’ve been free! my cs61b midterm grades are up. got a 28.5 outta 40. mean was 26 and median was 27. i guess i should be happy since i was expected somewhere around the C range. On Thu, 17 Oct 2002, Paul Hilfinger wrote: “The midterm is graded and grades are now on-line. Mean score 26. Median: 27. Since my grading scale is predicated on a mean of 20, I’d say this is pretty good! PNH”

not sure if i’ve mentioned this before, but my cell phone scared the heck outta me again. was taking a nap when suddenly i heard a buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz… of course since only my computer is on, i thought the noise was generating from there. i was like o shoot, did something die!?!?! my computer is my baby. nothing bad is allowed to happen to it. of course it’s also my slave working 24/7 ;p. current status:

anyway, back to main topic. i was half way done my bed when i realized that my cellphone was in vibrate mode. (it’s embarrassing when your phone rings in class!!!) after that happened once, i’ve learnt my lesson. well, there was a sigh of relief that there was nothing wrong with my baby. hehe. ^_^x

Apartment Manager Complaining About Noise

my envision 17″ flat screen monitor came in today! can’t believe i’ll be getting this free after rebates. well, there were $7 of tax involved but hey, that’s still a great deal! ^_^x another good thing about UPS is that they accept shipments too! sent out 2 boxes through UPS today, both through the same UPS guy. the UPS guy was nice, helped carry my monitor up 2 flights of stairs, but then when he was walking up the 3rd flight for another delivery, he dropped one of the boxes marked ‘FRAGILE’. *shrug* thank god that wasn’t my package.

throughout my life, there has been only a few people who could actually piss me off. i mean they really have to try super hard to do it! i’m not one to get easily pissed off. in fact even when someone tries, i usually just brush it off as a joke. i can’t even remember the last time i was pissed, but my landlady just went overboard. during the first week we moved in, she called down and ‘asked’ us to quiet down so she can sleep. i agree we were playing our music a bit loud so we apologized and turned the volume down. the next day she called again and said we were talking too loudly while we were just talking at normal noise levels. well, since she was the apartment manager, we didn’t wanna have any trouble with her, so after 12am, we talked really softly up to the extent of a whisper. then one time she called @ 11:30pm (even before the curfew she set) and asked us to be quiet. another nite, my partner was working on a project and we received a call. what turned the tables was when she called my roommate’s parents and complained. i mean to go to that extent is just declaring war. now instead of asking, she demands. my roommate and i got so pissed we asked liam for help (since his mom’s a lawyer) and he helped us find the tenants’ rights advocacy group and we explained the situation. the person @ the end of the line told us it was absurd that u cant even speak @ a normal noise level, and told us that we didn’t have to worry about this leading up to a case to evict us. what i really want to say next time she calls is ask her to be reasonable. we’ve tried to compromise, but having to whisper?!?!? i mean she’s the one that made the attack first and hasn’t stopped firing @ us.

Fear of the Shadow

… BIG SIGH OF RELIEF … finally got the midterm over and it wasn’t as hard as i expected. answered every question besides the extra credit. think it went something like this, “who were the antagonist in the battle of theodyte” (don’t think i spelled theodyte correctly). during the practice i was stumped @ every single problem, but i actually managed to complete the stupid midterm today with not much trouble, not sure how much i got right though. probably have tons of small errors.

on my way home today, i had a shocking experience. you know how gophers are afraid of their shadows and we always (well, i did) thought it was silly. i mean it’s a harmless shadow. but today, something happened that changed my perspective. while i was walking home listening to my minidisc, i noticed someone was following me. nothing to worry about, just kept walking along naturally. the person moved closer behind me each and every time i checked, but never before me. suddenly i stopped, turned around and THERE WAS NOBODY. all this time, i have been wary of my own shadow. and trust me, i was really frightened @ the end. could’ve sworn beads of sweat was coming out on a freezing tuesday nite. still sends shiver down my spine every time i remember it.

just completed an anime series called Hack Sign. awesome soundtrack, but storyline got extremely weird. the ending was somewhat satisfying besides the fact that it said: to be continued…

Xiao Xiao 9

what a wonderful day! until i remember i had a midterm next tuesday. is dedicating tomorrow to study for it. (but my dedication is so WEAK!) the SF giants lost for their first time today in the national league series. welp, i guess there’s going to be at least 1 happy couple. liam and lydia are apparently going to the 5th game. if giants won 4 games straight, they’d have to refund their tickets. i think baseball is rigged also. giants could’ve obviously won today but to keep raking in more cash, they’re trying to reach game 7.

brother showed me this yesterday. apparently xiao xiao has released a new stickman episode: xiao xiao 9 (link 1 | link 2) this is supposedly a demo and can be found on xiaoxiaomovie.com, but it’s been lagging big time for the past 2 days. on contrary to belief, it’s not a continuation of the xiao xiao 7-8 saga, but a completely new and renovated side scrolling fighting game. the boss may appear impossible to beat, but there is a way… ^_^x
