My friend PreyX just showed me something awesome. For most people in Berkeley, we have hostmasks like:<br \/>\n<strong>hil-101-150.Reshall.Berkeley.EDU<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But now you can change it to: _____.Reshall.Berkeley.EDU just by going to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rescomp.berkeley.edu\/helpdesk\/email\/\">HelpDesk<\/a> and submitting a request like this:<br \/>\nI&#8217;d like to have hostname _____.Reshall.berkeley.edu. Thanks.<br \/>\nThen BOOYAH! Now I have <strong>krunk.Reshall.BERKELEY.EDU<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just got a reply from them. Here\u2019s what they said:<\/p>\n<p>OK, all done. Here is some info on the change:<br \/>\nAfter enabling a new hostname for your computer, the complete name for your computer will be new-name.reshall.berkeley.edu. This change is final. You will not be allowed to change your hostname a second time, so consider your choice carefully.<br \/>\nHostnames may only be changed for residents who already have an In-Room Connection.
