watched K-Pax<\/a> today and it was an awesome movie! I hope the info I provide here won’t be any spoilers for anyone. 2 interesting parts I’d like to mention is:<\/p>\n

  1. Prot says “Every being in the universe knows right from wrong. You humans, most of you, subscribe to this policy of an eye for an eye, a life for a life, which is known throughout the universe for it’s stupidity. Even your Buddha and your Christ had quite a different vision, but nobody’s paid much attention to them, not even Buddhists or Christians. You humans, sometimes it’s hard to imagine how you made it this far.<\/em>”\n

    As heiyaheiya said “you seem to have a very strong japan fetish huh?<\/em>” For those that has seen my subprofile lately, they’ll notice this new info:
    \nA concept related to this is “Hito no me,” which means “the eyes of others” and refers to the silent, always-watching eyes of everyone around you, looking at you to make sure you’re not doing anything too far outside the norm. I encountered this when I moved to a new neighborhood, back when I was single. Trash day was Wednesday and Friday, and you had to put your trash in the assigned place before 7 am on the morning they were to come pick it up — you could not put it out, say, the night before. Since getting up at 7 am was a little early for me (I worked from 2 to 10 pm and stayed up late), I tried “bending” their rules just a little, putting my trash out at night very quietly. But in the end, the disapproving eyes of all those living around me wore me down, and I conformed. I felt that the power of all those eyes was far more powerful than, say, if they had a law requiring me to put my trash out before 7 am. The concept of “hito no me” is one of the most important reasons why Japan is the way it is.<\/em><\/p>\n

    I just found it interesting how these 2 things related. ^_^x<\/li>\n

    Prot says “Why is a soap bubble round? A soap bubble is round because it is the most energy efficient configuration. Similarily, on your planet I look like you; on K-Pax, I look like a K-Paxian.” What I don’t get is the ending where Prot leaves and Robert stays. If he’s saying humans are the most common configuration of intelligent beings, then why does he not have a body\/entity; but instead take over Robert’s body which contradicts what he says on how he looks like a human on Earth and etc. Unless he was really delusional, which I didn’t want it to be.
