Starting with where Archer finally gets to see the diamond for the 1st time to where Solomon stands before the a press conference in Kimberley, South Africa and tells his story. The ending I thought was very powerful and it along is worth watching the movie for. Of course the rest of the movie was still awesome. The soundtrack was done by Howard Shore, which I believe is the same guy that did Lord of the Rings soundtracks. However, the music was vastly different in my opinion. The soundtrack accompanying the ending was heavenly, and is what has kept me rewatching it.

The story talks about Solomon, who’s life has been ruined by the war. He was captured and force to mine for diamonds. He finds a exceptionally large diamond and manages to hide it and escapes. Archer is a mercenary and overhears about Solomon’s finding. Solomon goes searching for his family and learns that his wife and daughter are now kept safe in a refugee camp, however his son has been captured and forced to hunt down the very people that his father was captured as.

Archer promises to get Solomon’s family back in exchange for half the diamond’s sale price. As their journey continues, they meet a reporter named Maddy and the 3 of them began to trust in one another as they try to survive in the chaotic Africa. In the end, Archer gives up his own life so that Solomon can go to England and reveal to the world what’s happening and who is actually funding the African wars. Archer gives Maddy his last phone call and the conversation was very sweet and touching. Maddy helps bring Solomon over and photographs the transaction between him and Van De Kaap, which I can only assume to be representing De Beers (London Diamond Syndicate). The story is published and Solomon tells his story in front of everyone in front of the press conference. Soon after that the The Kimberley Process was enacted, however I don’t think Solomon was a real person, since I couldn’t find him on Wikipedia or any mention of him on the Kimberley Process page.

My favorite song out of the soundtrack is ‘London‘. According to iTunes, I’ve played it 99x already.
